TATAY
ABRING, MY GRANDFATHER
I just want to express
my feeling with this essay. I think it is relevant with our theme, “Anything
Under The Sun”. Its 1:25 am, November 28, 2012. We are arrived from hospital (National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Manila). My
grandfather situation is critical this time. My father says that he is always
telling him that he wants to see all of his grandchildren that is why we need
to visit him today.
Let me
share here in my essay some of his personality and characteristic. He
showed us how important life really was. My grandfather was great at many
things. He was a faithful
church worker
in his time; he just stopped 5 years ago because he really can’t read after all
and his voice is weaker. My grandfather loved to go to church actually he is
living in the compound of Iglesia Ni Cristo chapel. When it came to church, he
served in many ways. He became a minister in Iglesia Ni Cristo for many years
and not just a minister, he also become one of the top minister in his time. I cannot start to imagine the hard work that my
grandfather had been through to serve God and to help people to know the
message of God. In this simple paragraph you will encounter that he is a
good and great servant of God.
Even
though we didn’t spent time with him so much because we live far away and
they need to go in other places where he is
assigned, but every year we have a reunion to see all of us. We love him
and he really loves us. My dad always told us
the story of my grandfather and their family how they lived and the hardship
they went through.
We
cried when we saw his pain. I prayed that if God wants him to stay, please give
us time to make him happy everyday and if God needs him now, please don’t give
him so much pain because in our hearts, we are crying and hurting when we saw
Tatay Abring with his situation. I hope God will give him enough time and day so
that he can still experience and feel the heat of the Sun, breeze of the wind
and cold of the night with his family.
